HHS and HMS Spanish students created "alfombras de Semana Santa" on Friday, April 14th after studying how the Easter Holy Week is celebrated in Guatemala.  Students dyed saw dust with food coloring and cut out their own stencils in preparation for making their carpets alongg the River Arts Greenway in downtown Hazard.  These colorful sawdust carpets are made throughout Central America as a backdrop for religious processionals that take often place on Good Friday.
